On May 31st, we invited our clients to attend the “Äkta™, Unicorn™7.x and Lab Scale Column Packing Seminar”, a training course we organized together with Cytiva, our partner and global provider of technologies and solutions in biotechnology research and biomolecules production.
The seminar, which took place at the Biomedical Research Foundation Academy of Athens, was led by Dr. Stephan Poetsch, Senior Sales Specialist Chromatography & Imaging in Cytiva. Dr. Poetsch introduced strategies for protein purification based on capture, intermediate purification and polishing (CiPP), explained basics in chromatography (Affinity, IEX, HIC and SEC) and lab-scale column packing, and shared insights for several parameters, including packing protocols, troubleshooting, performance testing, efficiency and maintenance of column packing.
Our clients had the opportunity to dive into an immersive interactive learning experience that included hands-on column packing of HiScaleTM column with CaptoTM Q using the Äkta Pure™ protein purification system, methods to determine the slurry concentration for optimal performance, testing and performance of chromatography resins, as well as methods to test the column, packed bed and equipment performance before starting the purification process. By using the Unicorn™7.x, an integrated controller and intuitive computer-based interface by Cytiva, key parameters can be planned, controlled and evaluated within a few clicks.
